Stoke sludgers Reparation’s debut 3- track release Hallucinations is the soundtrack to the new wave of Hardcore. Following in the footsteps of their peers, Brutality Will Prevail and Crossbreaker, Reparation are honing a sound filled with aggressive down- tuned guitars and low searing vocals makes for a very compelling listen.

Split Realities kick starts the EP with raw aggression and gloomy droning riffs which create an energetically unsettling atmosphere. The vibrating bass lines courtesy of Chris Lloyd along with the impactful drums played out by Tim Bradbury give the song some power, and along with the heavily distorted riffs of Daniel Morris and Josh Ball the song portrays the bands musical talent and musicianship which makes for a very promising and enjoyable start to the lads debut offering.

Second track Smoked Generations starts more upbeat than its predecessor and definitely highlights itself as one for the live show. This track shows the band exploring their musical abilities with the addition of more technical drum patterns and guitar riffs than Split Realities. Although for us here at Hevypetal HQ, Split Realities is the better of the two.

EP closer The Excuse shows signs of typical hardcore esque drum patterns and guitar parts along with very raw and empowering vocals from Reece Moulton. Along with the rest of the EP this song is definitely for all the hardcore lovers.

Hallucinations gets the thumbs up from everyone in the Hevypetal Office and a full length couldn’t come soon enough
