Biography

RediBrown aka Divine is a recording artist, producer and studio engineer originally from The Eastern Shore of Virginia. He was raised in Trenton, NJ and in Philadelphia, Pa. and started recording at the age of 16. He and his team later met members of the 70's platinum selling group "Instant Funk" (I Got My Mind Made Up) and it took off from there. "Redi" then recorded at the Instant Funk recording studios for a few years before meeting James Lee and Tony D of North-Side Records. At that time, they were producing The Poor Righteous Teachers and "Redi" was popular for being one of the "nicest" MC's in the City. He was appearing on various mix-tapes from well known DJ's such as DJ Symphony, DJ Juice and DJ Ox. James Lee offered him a contract with NSR so "Redi" enlisted the help of a neighborhood rhyme partner named "God-Son". They soon formed "Da'Unda Takaz" and began recording songs at Epsilon Studios in Hamilton, NJ., which was the recording home of PRT, YZ, King Sun and Blvd Mosse. They released two official singles and were scheduled to release a full length album, called The Eulogy. They performed at some of the tri-state areas top clubs and developed a wide fan base along the way.

"Redi" started to realize just how talented his younger brother Symphony was on the turntables and began to focus more on being exclusive to his mix-tapes and traveling from state to state for different functions that he played at. The name "Redi-Brown" came about when he decided that he had to separate his group identity from his new solo ventures. So he picked up a dictionary for some sort of original and artistic name when he came across the word "reddish-brown". Since he was a big fan of "Red-Man", and had a reddish-brown complexion, he had it! So he shorten the words and hence the name "Redi-Brown" was adapted. The stage was set for future greatness.

Presently "Redi" is using his producing skills to record a new music for an artist by the name of "Therow Da'Lyrical Assassin, while also releasing a brand new full length album with a production company from Arizona named 3rd Phloor Productions and a producer from Colorado named Beatz For Food. Showing you that his networking skills are on a nationwide level. His new album, "Taking Ya' Back" is a classic style of Hip-Hop full of 'those boom bap" beats that he loved listening to when hip-hop was more original and even more creative.

"Redi" states that he loves the hip-hop of today, but isn't one that follows trends. I am from the school of "original" hip-hop music, that's paved the way for what you her every day. I keep my music basic, straight to the point and no chaser so that people can see and feel how authentic I am." His new album is being released this April and you can check out some of his promo music on the sites listed below. Make no mistake about it, "Redi-Brown" is as original as they come and we all know that hip-hop like that will never die….
