Biography
Red State Update is a video blog hosted by feisty, curmudgeonly Jackie Broyles (Travis Harmon) and his media-savvy sidekick Dunlap (Jonathan Shockley). At least once a week, the RSU boys report on the current political climate and the latest hot buttons of pop culture from their makeshift studio in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Occasionally, Jackie and Dunlap break into song, resulting in such melodic fare as "Fightin' Joe Biden" (inspired by the senator's response to RSU's entry question for the CNN/YouTube Democratic Debate) and "Who's Gonna Fill Their (Funny) Shoes", an ode to their favorite Southern comedians past and present (based on George Jones' 1985 country hit).
Jackie and Dunlap's debut album, How Freedom Sounds, was released by the Dualtone Music Group on July 22, 2008. Links to the many RSU profiles (on YouTube, MySpace, etc.) can be found at http://redstateupdate.com.
