1997 – present (24 years)
Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Red Jezebel formed in 1997 in Perth, Australia, taking their name from a code-word utilised in a local supermarket chain, the original four-piece consisting of Paul Wood (Vocals & Guitar), Chris Hayes (Guitar), Mark Cruickshank (Bass) & Alex Hyman (Drums). In November 2004 the band parted on good terms with a newly-wed Chris Hayes and guitar duties were taken on by WAMI award-winning producer Dave Parkin (Snowman, Bob Evans, The Panda Band, The Exploders). The band has survived a tumultous 'business' history with Festival Mushroom Records and Warner Records, parting on good terms though in disappointing circumstances with both major labels, and have since started the road toward success on an independent basis.
The band has release four EPs and two critically acclaimed albums whilst also playing with the likes of Art of Fighting, Bluebottle Kiss, Blueline Medic, Brad, Deadstar, Even, Garbage, Gerling, Eskimo Joe, Jebediah, The Living End, Mach Pelican, The Mavis's, Motor Ace, The Panics, Powderfinger, 78 Saab, Sidewinder, Skulker, Something for Kate, The Superjesus, Tumbleweed and many more. Their music has been critically acclaimed over the years, culminating with their October 2007 release of "How I Learnt To Stop Worrying" which gave rise to a series of local chart-topping singles.
