The New Religion is the third studio album by Massachusetts comedy rock boyband Rectus Abdominus, released August 11, 2017. The album's recording process began almost immediately after the band's self-titled sophomore album, which was released less than two months before The New Religion. From July 6 to August 5, the band was in and out of the studio periodically working on their third album, which ended up being a double album bearing 21 tracks. The album's recording sessions were the first time where tensions began to grow between members, resulting in an extremely brief hiatus mere days after the album was released. After the short hiatus, the band embarked on the One Thicc Ass Tour in September 2017 in support of The New Religion.
