Biography

The Ranchero Brothers are an acoustic folk-country alter-ego duo of the Old 97's, featuring the 97's Rhett Miller and Murry Hammond.

Best known for raucous live shows, and their previewing of new Old 97's songs long before the Old 97's ever play them, the Ranchero Brothers recorded their own debut album in 2000, though that project was shelved prior to its release. And while several Rancheros songs have made their way onto Old 97's albums, only two cuts from the aborted Ranchero album, "Sweet Thing Pine Bluff," and "I'd Be Lonesome" (a Robbie Fulks cover) have been released, and then only on two limited-edition compilation albums.
