Biography
A group that straddles the gap between avant-garde improvisation and accessible Funk and Latin grooves, Quadraphonix has simultaneously earned standing as relentlessly innovative musicians and an enormously popular act.
Emerging from the Honolulu club scene underground in 1999, the group began by playing extensively in their hometown before embarking on inter-island, cross-country and international tours. Having gained a diverse following across the United States and abroad, Quadraphonix has been successful in carrying out their ambitions of creating compelling original music and bringing it to the people.
Each of the musicians – classically trained Double Bassist - Susan Copp, Percussionist - Eli Clemens and Guitarist Shree Sadagopan have been in different bands that were in the underground Honolulu scene in the 90’s that had one thing in common; band leader and Drummer - Jonathan Heraux. Upon Susan’s return from college in 1999, Jonathan presented her with a vintage 1943 Kay upright bass with the intent to recruit her to his next project. With Afro-Cuban Conga Drummer Eli and Sitar influenced Guitarist Shree on board they formed the Quadraphonix and quickly became known for their versatility and dynamic live shows.
