Biography

Poverty Branch is a self-described Folk-Pop band from Orlando, Florida, fronted by David Burleson. Burleson is the lead singer, acoustic guitarist, and songwriter of the group. Their influences include Johnny Cash, The Avett Brothers, Guster, Dr. Dog, The Beatles and Bob Dylan.

The band began in Summer 2006 in the form of a single demo for the song "Michigan Street," which is still one of the band's most popular songs. The band recorded six more songs at the end of the year, and after adding Jonathan Pratt of The Dark Romantics to play drums, recorded six more in Spring, 2007. These recordings made up the debut album, ''Putting The Old Horse Down,'' recorded locally and produced by Steve Shapiro, and released independently by the band.

In late 2007, the band added Kyle Cox, of the solo project You And All The Animals to play additional guitar, keys, background vocals, and also contribute to songwriting. After shooting a music video for "Housefire" in February, 2008, the band parted ways with bassist Kyle Van Cleave and guitarist Jonathan Purvis.

In June, 2008, the band entered the studio again, this time to record with producer Jeremy Griffith from Moments in Grace. Bassist Brendan Allen May and vocalist Laiza Rodriguez then became permanent additions. The sophomore album, titled "All Systems Go," is to be released on December 6, 2008 at Backbooth in Downtown Orlando.
