On the legendary track “Alma Mater”, formerly known to fans as “Swear to God” or “Dress”, Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti talks about his childhood, involvement in the fashion scene and of course, the women in his life.

If “FlatBed Freestyle” is the epitome of Carti’s “Baby Voice”, this song is the antithesis. “Alma Mater” features Carti using a vocal inflection on this song that can only be described as his “Deep Voice”. This same voice is often used by Chief Keef, who Carti has credited as one of his biggest influences.

“Alma Mater” is produced by Carti’s long time collaborator and friend, Pi'erre Bourne.

The song was first previewed by Playboi Carti himself on his Snapchat story on April 2nd, 2017. The song’s file was finished on June 6th, 2017. It had become one of his most anticipated songs ever since it was previewed.

The song was considered lost after it didn’t end up on Playboi Carti’s debut album Die Lit. To everyone’s surprise, a studio quality snippet of the song surfaced on the 23rd of August 2019. On August 25th, over two years after fans had first heard the song, “Alma Mater” leaked online in full.

“Alma Mater” is a known throwaway and will not be appearing on any future projects.
