Planet Cheat Code is a lo-fi, indie folk project by Australian musician Elliott Sargent. The songs’ themes tend to stray into the sadcore genre and tend to be either self-deprecating or unworthy in nature.
In late 2024, Planet Cheat Code released his first demo EP “Bedroom Demos 2024,” consisting of five songs (excepting the opening track) recorded “live” on a semi-acoustic guitar through an amp and the vocals recorded simultaneously on a condenser microphone.
Planet Cheat Code released his debut album “Songs for the Hopelessly Optimistic” on April 4th, 2025. Its sound focused on a blend of acoustic guitar and electronic keyboards. The most popular and well-received tracks were ‘Points for Trying,’ ‘The Sophisticated Nature of You,’ and ‘Planet Cheat Code Joins the Bolshevik Revolution.’ Later on in June, PCC released three previously unreleased bonus tracks that had been left off of the album as b-sides to the main singles.
There will be a new EP releasing later this year.
