Stay Away from My Friends is a beautiful song that can be interpreted in two ways. It can be about a relationship that Vic feels was very entrapping while barely being romantic. He worries that being trapped with this girl is taking him away from his friends-who he needs-cause he feels like has to spend every moment with her. He’s “been inside her bedroom a thousand years.”
Or, its a song about a battle with depression and how it overwhelms Vic. He feels like it came out of nowhere and makes him never want to leave his bed or room, and he worries it will take his friends away from him. Even though he needs them to carry him to his grave.
