Biography

Paula Oliveira is nowadays a reference of Jazz in Portugal.

Although having her formation in classical music, she ends up definitely falling in love with Jazz in 1995 when she decides to go to New York and seriously learn to sing Jazz.

At that time she starts being a regular in several New York clubs, before getting back to Portugal and recording her first Jazz CD in 1998 with Paulinho Braga (Drums), David Fink (Bass) and Cliff Korman (Piano).

She's currently a teacher at the 'Luís Vilas Boas Jazz School' at the Hot Club of Portugal in Lisbon.

Em 2003 she recorded "QUASE ENTÃO" with the portuguese pianist João Paulo Esteves de Silva. 2005 saw "LISBOA QUE ADORMECE" where Paula Oliveira partnered with Bassist Bernardo Moreira.
Her last recorded work "FADO ROUBADO", marks the return of Bernardo Moreira and the cooperation of several of the most well-known portuguese musicians and composers.
