Don’t Let The Light Go Out, often written as DLTLGO or ‘Light go Out’, is the 3rd track on Panic! At The Disco’s final album, “Viva Las Vengeance.”
An accompanying video was released the same day, on August 16th.

The song interpolates the guitar riff in “At Seventeen” by Janis Ian, who has shared her support for the band following the songs release.

Panic! teased Don’t Let The Light Go Out on 8/11/22 by posting a snippet of the song on the band’s Instagram.

Later in the day on 8/11/22, Brii, the marketing manager for Warner Music, tweeted “Don’t Let The Light Go Out is gonna absolutely ruin y’all because it absolutely ruined me”. Brii’s tweet caused fans to go into a frenzy.

On 9-3-22 Brendon described songs from VLV in a series of pop-up ADs on Pandora. For this track he stated its about “…Love and loss, and don’t we all know that all so well.”
Brendon opened up on an interview with Mikey Piff that over the 2020-2021 pandemic he dealt with loss.
Butch Walker has also taken to Instagram to talk about the songwriting process of this song, stating, “Brendon brought in to let us help finish writing with him…”

The song was first performed on August 30th at the 2022 MTV VMA awards. Don’t Let The Light Go Out was also their last televised performance, on the Kelly Show November 9th, 2022.
During a concert in Hamburg, 2-23-23, fans performed a fan-run light project during the song, where they would flash their lights on and off during the songs' chorus by moving their phones up and down. This project warranted a lot of emotional reactions both from fans and the band themselves.
