Oscillon is an instrumental electronic artist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work explores improvisation on vintage analog gear, drum machines and modular synthesizers, fusing a love of psychedelic, kosmische musik and drone with the propulsive rhythms of modern techno and house, creating a skewed lo-fi universe of electronic sound equally informed by artists like Harmonia, Aphex Twin, Ceephax, Legowelt, OPN, and Daniel Avery.
Inspired by science fiction, dystopian literature, vintage electronic music, and the otherworldly textures of certain synthesizers, Oscillon's music explores our impending technological doom or salvation through abstract, tape distortion-laden pieces, which veer from cosmic drone tapestries through crunchy, driving analog house and techno.
His newest release "Memory Metropolis" is a set of lo-fi house and techno recorded between 2015 - 2018, with a more aggressive, simple approach than prior releases, utilizing the SH-101, Blofeld, MS-20, ESQ-1, Digitakt, and various drum machines.
