Biography
NoMind is a punk rock band, which sprang out of the ruins of the Greek youth revolt in December 2008 and was originally formed by Sotiris Theoharis(ex Adieksodo) and Geo Beo. The band is focused on social resistance, setting political criticism and social disobedience in priority. Their music supports the lyrics in the most upfront manner.
Their first appearance is in February 2009, at the 2-day solidarity festival, against the destruction of the public park on Patision & Kiprou street, Athens (the mayor of Athens wanted to turn the park into a privately-owned parking lot). During the same year, regardless of the constant changes in their rhythm section lineup, they were able to present their first original songs and perform on stage with two of the biggest bands of the British punk scene, GBH and The Partisans.
In the beginning of 2010, the lineup was finally established with the addition of bass player Dimitris Arapoglou and drummer Giorgos Chloros. With this lineup they have participated in many solidarity concerts and DIY music festivals, held in open and self-managed areas all around Greece, along with great bands of the local music scene.
In the fall of 2010 they had their first official release participating with two songs in the DVD made for the 2nd Ziria Open Festival “Nikos Doikas”, and in December they appeared with GBH once more.
In 2011 they continued performing in great festivals like Keratea Art Resistance, B-Fest and, among others, the 1st Athens Punk Awakenings Festival in June 2011 and they participated in the ‘1st Athens Punk Awakening’ compilation along with Distortion Tamers, The Raindogs, Lunatics and Rockin Bones. In November of 2011, they appeared with the veterans of British punk, English Dogs in Athens.
In 2012 they started recording their first LP, produced by Nikos Spyropoulos (of the legendary Greek rock band Spiridoula). All NoMind members supported and participated individually, in the 80’s Gathering at AN club – a punk reunion of bands active in the ‘80s (Last Drive, Adiexodo, Genia tou Haous, Ora Miden, Stress, etc) –and the band appeared on the main stage of the 16th Athens Anti-racist Festival. On October they opened for the legendary Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, at Fuzz Club.
