On “P*RNSTAR”, Barrett craves authenticity in her intimacy with her partner, and asks them to show her who they are. Throughout the pop-dance track, Barrett expresses her interest in her partner, and her desire to go deeper with them sexually, wanting them to not hold back and “fuck all night”.
The song’s creation process started with the title of “PORNSTAR”, and a synthesiser melody Barrett formed in her head after attending EDM sets at Coachella in 2024.
Barrett confirmed there would be a song titled “PORNSTAR” on her sophomore album, AFTERCARE, in a Tweet on May 17. The first snippet was posted on Barrett’s Instagram story in early July 2024, with Barrett teasing it again on TikTok on November 4, just 11 days prior to the album’s release.
