Biography
Natasha launched her first hit single "Runaway" in Jan 2009. Wanting to do something different from her usual genres of Jazz and Blues Natasha has managed to capture many a hearts with her hit single "Runaway". Written by an extremely talented songwriter / producer Azlan Sheriffdeen, the song talks about a woman standing up on her own two feet and challenging the world norms. Very much similar to what Natasha is in real life. "I envisioned a powerful voice singing this song" Azlan says. And Natasha fit that profile exactly. Radio Express© USA saw the potential in the song and its ability to reach out to people. They have included the song in their POP, R&B and URBAN compilations and is now been circulated in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Natasha hails from Sri Lanka - a small island in the Indian Ocean formerly known as Ceylon. Of Asian and European descent, she is a perfect example of the ethnic mix that makes up this island home. Starting at a very young age she showed a lot of promise as a young singer being part of the school and church choir as early as when she was 7 years old. She started her professional musical career in 1998 joining a POP band. In the year 2000 she went on her own and she expanded her repertoire to POP, Jazz, Blues, Soul and R&B with more emphasis on Jazz. You could easily say that she has mesmerized the Sri Lankan Jazz aficionados with her powerful voice as well as her unique projection of what ever the song she sings.
But with "Runaway" she had clearly sent out the message that she has not forgotten where she started from and have proved that she is as versatile as any good performer should be.
