Biography
Mount Metropolis is the electronic experimentations of a simple guy from Texas.
—-
Forged from the fires of Mordor itself, Mount Metropolis blends the best of all genres into one giant orgy, one that would make even Pitchfork blush from passing over this budding artíst. Previously a Kevin Federline/ABBA (Association Battling Baby asSeals) side project/cover band, this band turned over it's (The Album)leaf roots and progressed into progressive soundscapes mixed with a mire of other plethoras of juxtoposing styles, including, but not limited, latin jazz, Mars Volta-esque masturbatory keytar techniques, flamenco, and Norwegian punk influences.
The first album seems to channel The Velvet Underground, with crooning vocals to rival Lou Reed. It also mixes it up however with the mellow melodic mellow yellowing soundscapes of Boards of Canada, with a dash of AIR to balance it out. Notes of The Flashbulb, and Aphex Twin are also noticibly notecible, and presently present, although to a lesser degree. While one may be looking for a more Venetian Snares influence, this only seems to be developing with each new album, at a slowly slow-like pace, albeit to the annoyance of some long-term fans. However, the artist continues to show promise, as noted on the band's MySpace page, where it reads, "…We are continuing to show promise, as I learn how to use GarageBand with Windows Movie Maker to remix my visual soundscapes to produce a new genre of music, aptly titled, 'Synesthesia'."
The band is currently touring with Nickleback. Check the MySpace page for dates.
