Modar is the first Malaysian doom metal band from Kuala Terengganu, founded in 1989 by Bassist/Frontman Lani , Lead Guitarist Tok Ari, Guitarist Bujor and Drummer Nusi. Then, Tok Ari and Lani left the band and was replaced by Bassist Joe and Guitarist Mang to produce their first album in Kuala Lumpur around April 1992 titled "Inferior Symphony" under GM Records, the parent company to Sonic Asylum and Modar was the first ever band recorded a doom metal concept album in this Asia region.
A few years has passed, the band has been dismantled due to each member’s personal reasons. In 2006, Mang decided to reform Modar back with his own music students which consists of Guitarist Ariff, Bassist Afiq & Drummer Rashid and produced their second album titled "In My Meditation Time" in the following year.
