Milan Mladenovic (Milan Mladenović) (September 21, 1957 - November 5, 1994) was a Yugoslavian musician best known as the frontman of the rock band Ekatarina Velika. He was born in Zagreb, however his father worked for the army and the familly had to move a lot.
In 1978 Milan moved to Belgrade, where he entered the circle of young people involved with the new music direction called the Novi val (new wave). Soon afterwards, he joined a band called "Limunovo Drvo" (The Lemon Tree) but this band did not last long. His first big work was connected with the band called "Šarlo Akrobata", which also included bassist Dušan Kojić Koja (Disciplin A Kitschme) and Ivica VD (drums). "Šarlo Akrobata" released only one record, "Bistriji ili tuplji, čovek biva kad…". The band had a lot of success all over ex-Yugoslavia.
After Šarlo Akrobata broke up, Milan created the band "Katarina II" with Dragomir Mihajlović (guitar), Margita Stefanović (keyboards), Bojan Pečar (bass) and Ivica Vdović VD (drums). Their sound was somewhere between progressive and classic rock, similar to Simple Minds. After their self-titled album Ivica VD and Dragomir Mihajlović left the band. Since Dragomir had the license for the name Katarina II, the band was renamed to "Ekatarina Velika" and released an album of the same name. This album launched them to the very top of the ex-Yugoslavian music scene, where they stayed for a long time. The concerts were crowded and finally their music was heard on the state radio.
