Biography
Marla Mase is a writer/performer/producer/singer/songwriter from New York City. She writes songs, plays, monologues, short stories, erotica, blogs, and poems. She is known for her gutsy, sexy, raw, performance style and her intelligent lyrics.
Her most recent show, A Brief Night Out (BNO) captures the essence of the classic "downtown" NY sound, a kick-**** rock-n- roll musical that is fast becoming an underground sensation. With this show it has been said that Marla is creating a new theatrical genre– Rock-n-Roll Theatre Noir. It has been said that it's Patti Smith meets Talking Heads and Kafka with a little Rocky Horror thrown In.
Because the music stands on its own without the show, Marla and THE BAND, a smokin' group of bad-ass musicians, perform regularly – her theatrical style and fearlessness insures a surprise at every gig and the music is simply killer ranging from funk, to blues, to pop, to rap, to avant-garde, and rock-n-roll.
Marla's second CD, SPEAK, is scheduled to be released in Spring 2011.
Her co-writer and producer is internationally renowned guitarist/recording artist Tomas Doncker.
