‘Mark Gamblin displays a high degree of skill on the guitar’ Blues Matters! Magazine

The Mark Gamblin Band has a predominantly blues vibe, heavily leaning on the sound of the Chicago Blues, with some influences of jazz and rock.

Mark Gamblin started playing in Portsmouth under his own name in 2002 as single soloist. After creating a name in the Portsmouth music venues, a bass player was added to the gigs. Soon after, two more musicians joined. In 2004, the band had changed into The Mark Gamblin Band, playing their first gig in Guildhall Walk Portsmouth 2004.

By 2005 the band had headlined the ‘University of Portsmouth Music Festival’ and had started recording their debut Blues and Blues/Rock album ‘Morning Rain.’

Songs from ‘Morning Rain’ was aired on Future Radio, Blues Radio UK and Blues Helsinki Radio. The Blues Matters! Magazine (winners of the international The Blues Foundation KBA Award) on reviewing the album stated that the band is ‘hugely entertaining in performance and Mark Gamblin displays a high degree of skill on the guitar.’

In 2009, the band added more musicians, becoming a five piece and headlined the ‘Portsmouth Blues Night’ at the ENSKA Club. In 2010, the band started work on a new album named ‘Down to the Station.’

In January 2011 Mark Gamblin signed a deal to release ‘Down to the Station’ worldwide with Acorn records.

In 2013 Mark Gamblin released a new album 'project3.' The album featured a bigger 8 piece band and moved away from blues into blues/rock and rock based blues.
