1) Marijn van der Meer. With melancholy lyrics and subdued music, Marijn dreams his way into the hearts of his audience. After playing the piano for many years, he took up the guitar when he was twenty, and knew he wouldn’t let go of it. In 2006, his desire for musical inspiration and development led to a plan that rapidly took clear shape: Marijn and his guitar were to depart on a journey to unknown destinations, and discover where his music would guide him.

A grim culmination of misfortune shattered this dream at the last moment. Following 2006, he spent three years fighting a tumor and struggled with his soul within. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong, and the fact that he had to secede part of his freedom because of this, weighed on him heavily. Despite this, even while positioned horizontally, he couldn’t give up his guitar, and this made possible a great growth of his music as well as of himself.

By 2009, he had wrestled out of his sickbed and with a renewed, clear mind decided it was time for the Rest of Days. Guitar on his back, he departed, onwards through Europe, heralding his good years.

Marijn feels reborn and that distinctly echoes in the music he makes. Every song is filled with hope, confidence and warm tones that blissfully resonate in the listener’s head. Composed with meticulous attention to detail, yet varied in performance; some songs a rough sketch of feelings, others much more intricate and delicate in composition. A wholly new perspective on life through the eyes of a young artist, who carries a visible scar to remind both him and others that enough time has been wasted.

2) Marijn van der Zaag, born 02-09-1987 in Delft, The Netherlands, comes from a family in which hardly anyone plays any kind of music.

Instrumental evolvement
At the age of 13 he started African/Brazilian percussion lessons, because his stepfather (divorced from Marijn's mother now) played djembé. After five years he picked up his stepfather's guitar as well and teached himself to play all kinds of songs. When he moved to Nijmegen to start a study information science one more year later, the acoustic guitar became the main instrument he played, because his father stopped paying for djembé lessons. Meanwhile all this, Marijn practiced every now and then on a drum kit individually, but began drumming seriously at the end of 2008, when his band needed a drummer.

Bands
With the African/Brazilian percussion group Afrodite, Marijn performed at parties and other events in Delft, Pijnacker and some other places.
In 5th to 6th grade, when he was 16-18, he played in the alternative/blues band Scissor Salad, mainly as percussionist.
The first years of study Marijn played guitar and sang solo, performing in a bar in Nijmegen incidentally. In 2008 he started the band 'De Tengere Mietjes' (tengere mietjes) with two (study) friends. Lacking a drummer, Marijn switched from guitar to drums. A keyboard player and two singers were added. This band quit in januari 2010.

While some Tengere Mietjes members were temporarily in other countries, Marijn started playing (still on drums) with his (now ex) girlfriend and some other friends at the end of 2009.

Marijn also has performed occasionally as duo with Lucas Rozenboom (from Scissor Salad), Roy Loos and Anneloes Verhulst (from De Tengere Mietjes).

3. Marijn a.k.a. Machinefabriek

Marijn is also the name under which Machinefabriek released one song ' Meltdown' on the compilation album 'M - The Thirteenth Letter' released by WFMU in 2013.
