Biography

Marguerite is a new musical by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Jonathan Kent, with lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and music by Michel Legrand, with original French lyrics by Boublil.

Based on the romantic novel "La Dame aux Camélias" by Alexandre Dumas, fils, the musical update’s the story to 1940’s wartorn Paris. It tells the tale of a 40 year old ex-singer and her affair with a young musician who is mixed up with the French Resistance, whilst she is married to a Nazi officer.

The new musical began previews at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London on 7th May 2008 and will have its press night on 20th May 2008. It is currently booking to 1st November 2008.
