María Graña is one of the most important singers in the history of tango. She was born in Buenos-Aires, 16 June 1953. She started to sing in the age of 12. When Maria was 17 years old, she won an Argentinian TV contest with a song "La canción de Buenos Aires". After that she was noticed by Osvaldo Pugliese, who invited María to join his orchestra. In 1975 she recorded her first solo album - "La gran tanguista", which was followed by "Distinta" (1977), "Nivel internacioanal" (1982), "Caserón de tejas" (1984), "Cristal" (1987), "María" (1995), "Gardel X María Graña" (1997), "Rara, Como Encendida" (2004) and "Cualquiera de éstas noches" (2007). María Graña received Premio Prensario and four Premio Konex as the best female tango singer.
