Biography

Manoel Gomes is a Brazilian brega singer and songwriter. The musician gained notoriety in 2019 with the song "Caneta Azul", written by Manoel himself. He wrote the song based on a personal experience of frequently losing his pens at school. The song went viral and received interpretations from several artists in the music scene, such as Wesley Safadão and Simone Mendes.

After the immediate success, Manoel started traveling around Brazil and performing in different states. At this time, the singer even stated that he intended to record his first album, with a completely authorial repertoire. However, in 2020, sudden fame coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil . In this scenario, the singer still managed to stand out with the promotion of lives. One of them even attracted more than 1.5 million viewers. Despite this, Manoel Gomes faced monetization problems and took a hit from his former manager.

In August 2020, Manoel Gomes released Caneta Azul, his debut album. The project featured musical production and arrangements by percussionist Laércio da Costa. In addition to the title track, produced in two versions – bachata and axé –, the repertoire brought songs such as "Maura", "Ela É muito É Vagabunda" and "Parabéns". "Eu Vou Quero de Ser Besta", from the same album, won a videoclip version and yielded around 100,000 views in less than a week.

At the end of 2022, Manoel Gomes announces that he is recording his second album. As a preview, he released the single "Se Você Não Me Ama" and "Lá Ele", the latter a collaboration with singer-songwriter Tierry.
