Biography
Maira 3 are a gothic-industrial band from Berlin, Germany, founded in 2021 by Maira Aslan (vocals, keyboards), Thomas Dorn (keyboards, bass, vocals), and Kai "KI" Ingersson (drums, computers).
“Dense layers of distorted synths and maimed vocal fragments over unorthodox rhythms create a palpable sense of desolation, alienation, and beauty forever lost. Maira’s evocative, minimalist lyrics, often whispered or spoken rather than conventionally sung, blend in an unusual way with the band’s brutalist noise architectures and eerily haunting soundscapes." (Sonic Rebellion)
With roots in Germany’s experimental electronic music scene, the group initially created music for performance art and video installations, releasing several tracks from this period in early 2023 on the album "Runework", a collection of dark ambient electronic compositions.
The summer of 2023 marked a significant change in style and sound, as the group added vocals and drums to their repertoire and started writing much harsher and louder songs, moving them into the industrial music genre. The album "Catacombs of Berlin", recorded with producer To'Be in the US and released in Nov. 2023, showcases an increasingly darker sound and lyrical imagery.
With the single "Toxin" and the gothic music video "Bloodletting", Maira 3 continue to darken their image. The single "Control" will be released on 13 Dec. 2024, followed on 21 Dec. 2024 - Winter Solstice Day - by the 3rd studio album, "The Turning".
