When talking about her sophomore album in her NikkieTutorials “Power Of Makeup” video, Beer confirmed she had written a song dedicated to her younger brother, Ryder Beer. Beer has described it as a “slower” track. Madison has also said that the track is probably her favorite on the album.
While promoting her memoir, The Half of It, Madison said multiple times that she tried to protect her brother while her parents were going through a divorce. Madison additionally stated she hoped to be a role model to her younger brother. On May 3, 2023, Ryder’s birthday, Madison shared some lyrics from the track on her Instagram story.
The track was registered into Madison Beer’s ASCAP. Additionally, in an Instagram story, Madison was teasing different versions of the tracklist for her sophomore album, and “Ryder” was placed as track 5, and was confirmed to be track 5 on August 9, 2023.
