Persistent Birth was the first recording of Loop12. The concept for the album was derived from an exhibit where a fish called "Embiotocidae" were discovered in the northern Pacific. They are viviparous fishes, in which the embryo is nourished directly by the mother as well as the yolk. This gives the family its scientific name, from Greek embios meaning "persistent" and tokos meaning "birth".
As Loop12 takes an improvisational approach to audio creation, every performance is a new birth or first-time. The concept of the "Embiotocidae" was hightly resonant.
Released November 2007. All tracks recorded live. No overdubs. For the effectuation of this recording, Loop12 were: Phillip Walker, Joel Zoch, Trent Straughan, Blake Hestir, Sikes Johnson, Corbett Sparks.
