Led by singer and lead guitarist Lindsay Muir, mod/ beat / R&B band The Untamed signed with the Decca record label in late 1964, making a solitary single for the label before hooking op with producer Shel Talmy (of Kinks and Who fame). After releasing two further singles (including a version of 'I'll Go Crazy') the band switched to Talmy's new independent label, Planet, where they debuted in December 1965 with a cover of Pete Townshend's 'It's Not True'.

They then undertook a four-month residency at the 007 Rooms in the London Hilton Hotel before breaking up, at which point Muir put together an entirely new version of The Untamed. In April 1966, Muir and a team of hired guns - including Talmy's favoured session guitarist, Jimmy Page! - cut 'Daddy Long Legs' as the follow-up to 'It's Not True'. This single is credited in some countries to The Untamed and in other countries to Lindsay Muir's Untamed. Both are okay, it's the same band.
