Biography
Less Life was a three-piece hardcore band from New Jersey, formed in 2010; they disbanded in June 2013. The musical technicality and myriad of influences are prominent throughout Less Life's music. If you listen closely, you may find traces of 108, Botch, Converge, Unbroken, and Takaru. Lyrically, they confront environmental and sociopolitical mainstream ideals, making you question capitalism, consumption, and yourself.
Less Life was composed of Thomas R. Schlatter, Rob Ross, and vocalist George Grimaldi. Less Life included former/current members of capacities, Black Kites, The Assistant, You and I, In First Person, This Ship Will Sink, and Write Back Soon.

Record Reviews
Less Life was featured in Taking the Lead (14 October, 2011), a Hawaii-based DIY music podcast.
Most of Less Life’s power come from their song structure. Tracks from Today Will Be Ours transition forcibly from math rock frenzy to hardcore power without batting an eye. “Philly Prophet,” the record’s most glaring example, covers three or four different variations of the same style in a cool minute-fifteen; confidently flipping through thrash, post-hardcore, and metalcore playbooks with ease. The quick movements on “Philly Prophet” and “Three Shades of Black” require band dynamics that are as impressive as they are well executed. The drums stop and start in unison with the sporadic fretwork, which is hard to keep up with in its own right. These songs are all over the place, but at least the players have a detailed map, keeping things quietly contained and the record surprisingly consistent. - C/F Music review
This powerful 10-minute demo is filled with some extremely brutal music that all adventurous listeners should definitely give a spin… Less Life plays a style of extremely heavy hardcore/grindcore…
The musicianship is of surprisingly high quality. I really love the crazy vocals from George Grimaldi… The frantic drumming from Tom Schlatter and Rob Ross's brutal fretwork are excellent from a technical perspective; these guys were fun to observe in a concert setting…
Demo 2011 is a great release from Less Life that, if anything else, proves these guys should have a brilliant career ahead of them. The amount of quality and energy put into this demo release is truly admirable. - J Man.
