nspired by the 49th parallel that forms the western part of the Canada-United States border, musicians hail from each country, creating a cohesive mixed chamber ensemble while still emphasizing a unique and individual sound.
Comprised of Jani Parsons (piano), Timothy Steeves (violin), Andy Hall (saxophones), Emileigh Vandiver (cello), Jason Paige (clarinets), and Chris Sies (percussion), Latitude 49 formed through their connections to the University of Michigan where they recently premiered 3 commissions on a season finale concert in April. Latitude is a dynamic new music ensemble, pushing boundaries and creating unique and charismatic performances for diverse audiences as well as commissioning new works for its unique instrumentation.
