Biography

La Trucha was founded in 2000 by it's charismatic singer, Loby (short for "El Lobisón" -"The Werewolf"- ). The rest of the members were Eduardo on bass guitar, Walter on electric guitar, Oscar on keyboards, "El Colorado" on güiro and Dardo on percussion.

The band started to gain popularity in 2001, and by the end of 2002 it was already one of the most renowned bands in the local cumbia scene. Despite being considered as one of the most important bands in the First Wave of Argentine Cumbia Villera, the band oftenly denied the label, calling their style just cumbia: according to Loby, the band just shared similar melodies and the dress code used by cumbia villera bands, and thus were consequently mislabeled. Loby also states that the band offers "healthy and non-violent fun" despite the band's dirty and blue comedy-esque lyrics.

The band disbanded some time after 2003 and became a legend of the genre.

In 2014, the band re-united and Loby started to communicate with the fans through social networks, announcing the return and making guest appearences with bands such as Damas Gratis and Me Dicen Fideo.

The band is currently preparing their return album.
