Ken Murray has been performing in concerts and festivals for 20 years. He also plays at functions and events both as a soloist and with a variety of classical ensembles and jazz groups. Ken plays a wide range of musical styles, from the classical guitar repertoire to Brazilian guitar styles, Spanish music and jazz.
Festival appearances include: The Darwin International Guitar Festival (1997 and 2005), Newcastle Guitar Festival (2002), The Melbourne Festival (2002), The Adelaide Festival (2002) and the Brunswick Music Festival (2001, 2002). He is a regular performer on ABC radio and has toured to Portugal, Spain, Japan, England (Aldeburgh Festival) and the Netherlands (Gaudeamus Music Week). His CDs include Between Earth and Air which features premiere recordings of Australian music, Homenaje, a CD of Spanish guitar music by Manuel de Falla and his contemporaries and Joyride with vibraphone player Craig Beard.
Ken has performed in many ensembles as a guitarist and mandolinist including: the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Elision, Libra, re-sound, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. He has played on many movie and TV scores, including Elizabeth and Sliding Doors by David Hirschfelder and The Craic by Ricky Edwards.
