Kelvin Momo (born Thato Kelvin Ledwaba on August 8, 1994 in Soweto, Johannesburg) is a South African DJ and record producer. He is widely regarded as a pioneer of Private School Amapiano, a subgenre of Amapiano that blends smooth jazz elements with deep house influences. With emotional compositions and a refined piano-driven sound, Kelvin Momo has shaped a distinct musical identity in the South African electronic scene.

Kelvin's journey into music began with his discovery of the piano. His talent quickly stood out at local events and church services, drawing attention for its expressive quality. These early performances laid the foundation for a career rooted in musicality and soul.

As he developed his craft, he joined the emerging Amapiano movement and started collaborating with key figures including Kabza De Small. His sound began to reflect a deeper, more layered approach that set him apart from other producers.

In 2020, Kelvin Momo released his debut album Momo’s Private School. The project received praise for its warm instrumentation and gentle, melodic flow. The album became a landmark for the Private School Amapiano sound, showcasing his ability to elevate the genre while staying connected to its soulful roots.

His later albums Ivy League (2021), Amukelani (2022), Sewe(2024) and Ntsako(2024) continued this trajectory. They featured rich vocals, intricate arrangements and a commitment to artistry. Some of these works reached platinum status in South Africa, expanding his reputation across the continent and beyond.
