Biography

KNAC.COM started out as 105.5 KNAC FM in Southern California.

The station is legendary. Possibly one of the best rock radio stations of all time. The station began their hard rock format in 1986. They where one of the first radio stations ever to play such bands as Guns N Roses, Metallica, Pantera, and Megadeth just to name a few. They where just as a big of a part of the massive hard rock metal scene that was growing rapidly in Southern California as many of bands.
They did not limit themselves as they played all sub genres of hard rock such as glam metal, thrash metal, hard rock, and many underground bands that normally would never have gotten played on radio.
With the grunge scene moving in to the music scene, the music KNAC played was losing popularity and in 1995 the station was changed to a Spanish speaking station which it remains to this day.

February 15, 1995 was the last day 105.5 KNAC was on air. James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich of Metallica where guest DJ's.
The last song to be played on 105.5 KNAC was Fade To Black by Metallica.

In 1998, some former staff members of 105.5 KNAC brought the station back to life as an internet radio station at KNAC.COM. This was one of the first online only radio stations.

To this day, KNAC.COM still exits as one of the best internet rock radio stations around. They have regular hosts, programs, and interviews with some of the best musicians around.
