"Starlight" is the fourteenth track on JENNIE's solo album, Ruby. JENNIE stated that “Starlight” was inspired by a converstation she had with her co-writer, Bibi Bourelly. They talked about heavy topics such as their struggles, and bonded by sharing their experiences. The song conveys a message of self-actualization and discovering one’s true self.
The song was first featured by JENNIE in an album sampler she posted for her debut album, Ruby. The video included snippets of several songs from the album accompanied by visuals that matched both the songs' vibes and the album’s overall aesthetic.
