Biography

A resonant and rich acoustic presence drenched with an emotionally charged vocal texture, sums up South African singer songwriter Jean Morrison!

Jean Morrison describes his music as NEO ACOUSTIC ROMANTICISED BALLROOM ROCK! His unique blend of all these, usually separated, styles seem to paint a melodic masterpiece upon a very solid vocal canvass. The result, powerful songs that will leave you begging for more!

This immensely talented yet humble songwriter’s beginnings erupted with melody when the grunge era injected its way into the aching conformities of school life which hypnotized the youth into an anti-establishment Nirvana addiction.

Since then Jean’s angelic voice has been heard at various popular venues around Durban, often alongside some of SA’s hottest names including Farryl Purkiss, Esjay of Stealing Love Jones and Squeel. Jean also recently spent some time performing in a club up in the Italian alps during their winter in January this year.

Although Jean has been compared to big name artists like Jeff Buckley, The Mars Volta, Muse and Silverchair, his undeniably unique sound is fueled by passion, soul, emotion and energy. This explains the title of his debut E.P. F.A.W.E. (Fire, Air, Water, Earth) which was recorded by Dave Birch at Tropical Sweat Studios. The first single "Now and Then" is set to be a huge hit on radio and television stations nationwide, as this will be released soon along with a music video.
