Biography

Amsterdam-based band Jagd was founded by guitarist Jos Neering and drummer Timo Mes, who had been friends for years, but strikingly never played music together before. In 2014 the two joined forces with bassplayer Luuk Meijer, with whom Jos had been playing with in another band for several years. There, they had already begun to develop their typical sound based on heavy, but playful basslines and sharp and energetic guitars. As of august 2014 singer Nanne van der Linden completed the band, that soon adopted the name Jagd. Jagd makes indie, heavily influenced by garage and punk. Their intense sound is completed by stonerriffs, pop hooks, vocal effects and the occassional synthesizer. After a year of songwriting and rehearsing, the band presented her first single on the 13th of november 2015 in a sold out Winston Kingdom. 2015 ended great, with a 4th place for debut ’Ritalin’ in the Dutch Indie Chart Top 100 of 2015. 2016 started out just as great, with being voted best band by both the audience and a professional jury at Q’s best, the bandcompetition by Q-Factory (Amsterdam Pop Academy).
The jury praised Jagd both for their music as for their presentation, calling Jagd a close-knit band with guts, great energy and adventurous songs. According to the jury “They really got the crowd going. Great presentation, they had attitude, good suspense and they were convincing. It just hit the mark straight away.”

Jagd is working on a second EP, for which Brattwell Recordings (Cheatahs, The Vaccines) will do the mixing.
