Honest. Aggressive. Meaningful. These are all words that have been used to describe the music that JC Poppe makes. Honesty is the number 1 policy for the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native. For the past several years, hip hop music has been moving further and further away from what is real and legitimate and closer to a complete fantasy world. With his new album Sleep Therapy, Poppe calls out the lies and the liars very brazenly out of love and respect for the culture that he grew up in and around. His delivery is often aggressive, but it is done in a poignant way, leaving off unnecessary vulgarities for words that truly capture that thoughts and ideas that he wishes to convey to the listener. This is a refreshing alternative to the lack of vocabulary found in today’s rap and hip hop music. What it all comes down to is JC Poppe strives to make music that is meaningful and lasting and has a longer half life then the rest of the albums coming out, hopefully radiating quality back into music, in his own unique way.
