“Girl’s Best Friend” was the lead single from Martin Lawrence’s crime comedy film Blue Streak. It also appeared as a hidden track on the rapper’s fourth album Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter. According to an inside source, Jay was given $500,000 for the track by Epic Records, who produced the film’s soundtrack.
Produced by Swizz Beatz, the track features vocals from his then-girlfriend Mashonda, and contains a sample of “Keep It Comin' Love” by KC and the Sunshine Band.
“Girl’s Best Friend” reached #52 on the Billboard “Hot 100” and #19 on the “Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks” chart.
