Biography
J G Harding is a singer songwriter and producer originally from Haverhill, Suffolk UK, now living and working in Cambridge. His songs build a bridge between Radiohead, Billy Bragg and Simon & Garfunkle, with lush harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and a sharp, passionate edge. He records and produces all of his own material, and occasionally records for others too. His full name is Julian Giles Harding.
Harding's first musical project was a hard-line left wing punk band at the age of 15, called Cry For Vengeance. The lineup also included Sam Russo on bass, who went on to become a punk soloist in his own right. At this time he began to learn production on Music 2000 for PlayStation, and soon began to record as well.
J G had many projects before returning to using his own name, most notably Neogear, which took Julian's song writing and wrapped it in a forward-thinking hard house, retro rave, and pop grunge guitar package.
Even while working on Neogear's unique blend, J G was also writing more thoughtful solo songs under the name Sunset Soldier, and eventually as J G Harding. After Neogear disbanded as a live act Harding produced one final track, Sky Blue, and left Neogear behind to work on J G Harding exclusively.
Since this new focused direction, J G’s songwriting and production skill have both become more refined, and he currently works as Video Media Editor for Sound On Sound magazine as well as playing music. He has also received much airplay on BBC’s Introducing show since December 2009.
His first LP is due in 2010, self produced, and released on his own label.
