Biography
Iam Electric (pronounced ‘Eiam,’ or /ˈiː.əm/ ) is a young DJ/Producer from America’s Midwest who blends fat, gritty bass into a whir of synthesizers and and eclectic dance rhythms. In-your-face, pulse-pounding tunes for your ear-holes.
The concept of Iam Electric started unintentionally as an experiment but but exists now to perpetuate and help establish the more progressive forms of electro, house, and hip-hop in America. This attempt is made by drawing on eccentric and lesser-known European or disco influences.
Iam is 23 years young and released the first electro EP “ZAP!” as a free download from his web site on August 3, 2010. This is not his first release though, Iam has been obsessed with music and has been producing tracks from a very young age. He’s released multiple albums which have included metal, hardcore, & punk bands- genres he dabbled in before forming his Bloomington, Indiana based Indie Rock project, “Strictly Off the Record.”
The precursor to ZAP! was an experimental album released under the name “Dinosaur Sex Party!” This project, mostly made of remixing and mashing together seemingly unrelated songs, eventually evolved from a hobby into a more original concept with monthly remixes released and now an original EP.
