Biography
Holtoug is a dj and producer based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
For many years he was a big part of the Danish indie rock scene (Lily Electric, Death By Kite, Decorate Decorate), but lately he has been experimenting with electronic productions, and with interesting results.
While covering a stylistic wide area, the common denominator in Holtougs music is the fine tuned sense of details, moody textures and dramatics.
"Holtoug" the music-lover was born in a small and cold country in the northern parts of Europe, where he, maybe influenced by the somewhat bleak climate, developed a liking for the moody and melancholic sounds and vibes that seem to somehow always be a factor in the music he creates.
"Holtoug" the Producer/Mixer/Remixer was slowly educated by trial'n'error in the school of hard earned experience, picking up trick-by-trick and skill-by-skill, working with/for local acts such as Lily Electric, Decorate Decorate, Oh No Ono, TurboWeekend, Speaker Bite Me and Death By Kite.
"Holtoug" the tech-head was realized one memorable summer night in the capital of techno. Flying to Berlin as a rock producer for the making of the Lily Electric album “You’re In The Painting You Saw” it was in no way anticipated that the evening would culminate in an almost semi religious awakening and the inclusion of a whole new set of beliefs.
Despite being ever more active in the vibrant Danish alternative scene, with 3 Ep’s and 3 Album releases, numerous tracks in the charts and a handful of remixes, all in the last year alone, and not to mention rising continually in demand as Mixer and Producer, he still, somewhere deep within, knew that since that night in Berlin, his long-time love for indie and alternative rock had just gotten a new and overwhelmingly serious rival in his newfound love for techno.
Recently, besides focusing on his own music, he has quickly made a name for himself in his hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark as an in demand house remixer and dj playing every major club in Copenhagen and remixing for outstanding names such as TurboWeekend, Giana Factory, HanKat, Rosa Lux and Oh No Ono.
