- Scramasax
Avant-garde / ritual band from The Netherlands founded by multi-instrumentalist and composer Nÿland ii in 2003, with one full-length (2009) and an EP (2014) out on Tuchtunie and a C18 cassette (2014) on Black Horizons. Aside from Nijland the band currently consists of Hodiamont, Jongen, Lucia M and percussionist Scramasax.
Until recently the sound of Hadewych meandered somewhere between neofolk, black metal ambience and ritual or even slightly industrial tendencies - the latter mainly though their use of prepared piano and percussion. The 2014 EP "Ēoh" was intended as a 'belated' companion to the 2009 debut and had to wrap up some loose ends regarding their overall style as well.
Consequent Hadewych material seemed to have lost its salient folk and black metal references, as the tracks on their release "Nu" show a clear change towards ominous avant-garde composition and ritual or even cathartic atmospheres, with an dark, unworldly stain that is akin to that of some atmopsheric black metal.
The band is known for issuing extremely limited and elaborately hand-crafted releases.
Hadewych++ is an Hadewych offshoot featuring members of Donné et Desirée, Dead Neanderthals and Distel
