This jazz-rock and latin funk band was formed in Mexico City in 1971 by a group of unknown studio musicians experimenting with fusion of musical styles. The same year, Grupo Oz recorded its first album for RAFF Records that was simultaneously released in Mexico and Spain.
All compositions and arrangements were by members of the band.
Their distinctive sound, with a Santana's Latin soul flavor, and their unique approach to play rock and funk (think Chicago and Chase) should have made this band an instant success; instead, because of little exposure time, very few copies of the original long-play were sold. Due to poor sales, the label stop promoting the band and, in early 1972, Grupo Oz disbanded. Two of the members joined Ricardo Ochoa to become part of Peace and Love, a jazz-rock band from Tijuana. The rest of the members remained in Mexico City doing studio work. It's an interesting fact tht most of the copies of this recording were sent for distribution to USA, making it almost impossible to find in Mexico.
