Does anyone know what they played in the Olympic Games Opening? Sounded like some symphonic co-op thing.

Yeah I haven't seen anything on hate or Goijra being satanic. It was all Christians being angry that the ceremony resembling the last supper.

That, and apparently the horse rider, Sequena, was like some Revelation 6:8 thing too. As if it's all about them and their mythology, and being victims all the time. :P That said, superb performance by Gojira, a very nice adaptation of the song! The ending went symphonic, heavy and epic af!

literally only joe duplantier could repeatedly scream "PLASTIC, BAG IN THE SEA!" and sound like a total badass while doing it

Been listening to these Mf'ers since Mars to Sirius and now they go on to create history. Well deserved!

I've never really paid much attention to these guys but I have to respect them for bringing back satanic panic. Metal is so back

I think he is referring to the reaction of the event, rather than Gojira, right after it was streamed I saw some randoms on twitter say it was satanic for some reason

Thanks to them performing at the Olympic opening ceremony, my interest in Gojira has been revived. I haven't listened to them in five years!

Never been that into this band, but I'm glad the first metal band to play at the Olympics was an ACTUAL metal band, instead of some hard rock or pop-metal crap. Going through their discography now, and I enjoy pretty much everything from 2012 and before.

The heaviest band I’ve heard from metal out of all those I’ve tried listening too. Like being crushed by a million whales from outer space.

Just dropping in to say it's about fucking time they got some recognition. Been supporting them since From Mars to Sirius came out.

Is there any hint that they will release Ah ! Ca Ira officially? Would be worth it.

We got Gojira performing at the Olympics and Opeth growling again before GTA 6

came here just to see how much the scrobbles would rise after the olympics (a bit more than twice, for the record)

Not Death Metal, good at mimicking or paying homage, but might as well call Slipknot "Death Metal" at that point if you think aggression and growls is all that it takes. Don't counter, I live and breath Death Metal and its history/story; just accept they are a mainstream palpable extreme metal band that would make soccer mommies plug their ears with their indexes and that's that.

Yeah not entirely Death Metal, I consider them mostly Progressive. I think they're a pretty good starting point for those just starting out listening to Metal as many mainstream Metal (if you can even call some of it Metal) is just boring/lame compared to the real stuff.
