Glice is the brainchild of Amsterdam based musicians Ruben Braeken and Melle Kromhout, conceived as an antidote to the song based pop-tendencies of some of their other musical outfits (Apneu, Fata ‘al Moustache’ Morgana, Katadreuffe). With Glice, diving into their second love of abstract music, they commit an act of musical adultery.
Striving for a sound that is experimental, but never pretentious, Glice is not concerned with fixed meanings. They leave it up to the listener. Mainly using lo-fi equipment, the musical approach is improvisational, but highly focused, free, but with a keen ear for detail. No ego, just ears.
The music of Glice might be characterized as a soundtrack for non-existent science fiction disaster movies. They continuously strive for full frequency exposure. Sonic identities turning into sonic indecencies: Glice is as much music for the mind as it is music for the gut.
After quietly releasing two EP’s (“Ph/Phr/Pr“ and ”/“) in 2009, Glice was revived in 2015 with the release of single track ”h“ in February. EP “51433213” followed on 22 April 2015 and their debut full-length “LIX” was released on the 1st of december of that same year.
