Biography

GimerStick was formed in the late summer of 97 in hopes to reach the youth of their town. The 8 piece Ska/Punk band was a product of a local youth group in the East Wenatchee area in Washington. GimerStick is totally commited to God and his son and savior Jesus Christ.
GimerStick had their first concert at a youth group retreat in the fall of '97 and had another in Wenachee the next week which brought in approximatlly 200 people. They are known for throwing various objects into the crowd during their shows such as beach balls, candy, and gimerstickers. They are also known for endless skanking and jumping into the crowd at various times. But, this doesn't over shadow what their music is all about. They give 100% to God and let people know that in their songs.
GimerStick's ministry has grown very rapidly in the past 6 months. A week after their first show, they finished recording their 4 song demo CD with Darik Peet Productions and Springwater Records. Soon after the the song "A New Hope" (now called "On The Double") was put on the Compilation CD "Connect the Dots" put out bye Let's Jet records, a label started by Jason Anderson from Squad Five-0 and Aaron Empsall. After all this good news the band took a break from shows to work on more songs but tragic news struck when lead singer and trumpet player Mark Allen's father was killed in a car accident. The band took it easy for awhile to comfort their friend and his family in their time of grieving. Looking to God for strength, Mark wrote the song "Faith Builder" and dedicated it to his dad. After finishing two new songs, GimerStick was invited to be in a benifit talent show for a teacher of Wenatchee High School who was battling cancer. The show brought in more that $12,000 and filled the auditorium with almost 1,200 people, about 300 over capacity. Next, GimerStick had a big show traveling to Spokane to play with Joy Eletric and Sappo. Unfortunately Sappo couldn't make so Champion Bird Watchers filled in for them. It was a good show anyway. Soon after recieving a demo from GimerStick, they were placed on the Yakety Yak Ska Compilation with the two songs "Faith Builder" and "A New Hope". This Comp. will have some of the best christian ska bands on the west coast including Not For The Crowd, Pax 217, Trump Mother Jones, Freeto Boat, Skallelujah, Dance Mob, Sampo, Stomach Monkeys, and The Bad News Bears.
GimerStick is now on two other compilations. One is on Cuddlefish Records and has just be released. They will have a booth at Cornerstone and are expecting to sell 2000 copies of the CD. The other is on Yakety Yak Record and is titled Skamania. It contains the west coast's best ska bands. It will be out in July or August.
We have a new trumpet player!! Andy currently began practicing us and at his first practice already learned four songs.
So that is the story of GimerStick so far and have more shows coming up and are posted on their homepage at (Http://members.aol.com/gimerplace/home.html) as well as other info. GimerStick has hopes of playing at TOM fest and Creation 98 at the gorge this summer and more local shows but mainly to praise God and share him with others
