Biography

Electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist George Sarah has been a mainstay on the Los Angeles music scene since 1985. He has achieved spiraling fame and garnered huge critical acclaim for his unique brand of electronic chamber music. Sarah performs his original compositions from a bank of synthesizers and drum machines alongside a trio of live strings, bridging the normally discrete musical worlds of electronic and classical. A regular on L.A. radio stations KCRW, Indie 1031, KPFK and KXLU, Sarah has performed live on leading alternative station Indie 1031, twice on Nic Harcourt's "Morning Becomes Eclectic," and made the number one position on KCRWs playlist. Sarah has appeared nearly a dozen times on KXLU, a live set on KPFKs Global Village and has been featured on classical station KUSC held the coveted slot of Jed the Fish's "Catch of the Day" on KROQ. George Sarah has scored 28 episodes the Discovery network and his songs have been featured on the hit CBS shows "CSI" and CSI NY, the Oprah Winfrey show, "History Detectives" on PBS, Chris Rock's "Everybody hates Chris" and has frequently appeared along with his string trio performing his songs on the hit TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Three Episodes), and has had his music played on Buffy spin-off Angel. His music has been featured on MTV"s "Road Rules" and "Undressed", Showtime's Next episode and in seven feature films including Artisan Pictures "The Curve" starring Felicity's Keri Russell and Matthew Lillard; Mascara, starring Ione Skye, Steve Jones and Karen Black; and "Cleopatra"s Second Husband" (Indican Pictures) directed by Jon Reiss. In November '98 George Sarah and his string trio played a two-week residency in Paris, France to consistently packed houses. He has also performed as tour bass guitarist for Death Ride 69 opening for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and toured Europe and the U.S. with his previous project "THC". From 1988- 1992 was a member of the electronic band Stereotaxic Device. Sarah frequently performs in the L.A. area at venues such as Grand Performances, UCLA's Royce Hall, The Getty, LACMA, opening for artists such as Bebel Gilberto, Nikka Costa, Crystal Method, Goldfrapp, Swayzak, A Guy Called Gerald, Spearhead, Mike Doughty of Soul Coughing, Audio Bully's, Miss Kitten, The Bad Plus, and many others.
